Finally, the new Vizio VP505XVT (50″ plasma, XVT series) is available at Costco B&M only. Vizio.com was/is selling this same tv for $1499 plus a ridiculous $300 shipping. My local Costco (Newport News, VA) had about 5 on the floor and I got one of them for $1199+Tax. (MSRP $1499). I have had the Vizio P42HDTV that I’ve purchased 3 years ago and it still performs well. If you are in for a large size plasma, I think this TV is the best bang for the buck. Here are some useful links about the Vizio:

Note that CR does not have this model of Vizio reviewed yet but the older version was rated best value in the 50 inch category.

Also note that $1199 is the NORMAL price (although MSRP is $1499). The most recent coupon book (Jan 5- Jan 25) has a coupon for the 46″ LCD version of the Vizio but nothing on this. I would assume there will be one perhaps closer to the Superbowl.

I’ve been waiting on a good deal for a 50 inch plasma and this did it for me. Hope this helps some folks.
