In this month’s Costco coupon book mentioned in this thread the very first coupon is for $200 off a 46″ Sharp LCD TV. The item # is 460550 and it is selling for $1,299 in store.

The coupon is a typo and it is actually for $300 off. (Most Costco stores have a picture of a correct $300 coupon next to the TV showing the final price after coupon of $999.)

Up until yesterday this deal was also available online +$50 shipping, and it still is but now you have to buy two TVs..

Also note that some Costco’s still have some of the older (and some argue slightly superior spec’d due to 4ms vs. 6ms response time) LC-46D64U 46″ Sharp LCDs for the same price of $999.

I just picked one of the 55Us up last night. Thought it was a great deal especially with automatically extended 2 year warranty from Costco.

Just saw an endcap at the local Sam’s Club last night, that had about a dozen of these Vizio 42″ LCDs on it:

Looked like a pretty good deal for the price. The sign with the price said “one time buy”, so I assume this is a closeout? The chassis looked a bit like last year’s Vizio’s. Silver at the bottom and shiny black plastic around the screen.

Model # is VS420, which seems to be new to me.

The next step-up, Vizio-wise, was the 42″ LCD w/120Hz refresh and it was $300 more.

Any comments, complaints, suggestion on the cheaper 42″?

Sitting here in the homeless shelter, it occurs to me that I
could’ve done a few things differently. After I got my job at Lehmann
Brothers, it probably wasn’t wise to email the HR directors of every
other company in the industry and tell them to “SUCK IT, BUTTWIPES!!!”
Putting fifty grand down on the St. Louis Rams to win the Super Bowl
this year turned out to be a mistake, too. You’d think my bookie would
tell me that Kurt Warner and Marshall Faulk weren’t with them anymore.
You’d be wrong. But perhaps the biggest mistake I made after I lost my
job was continuing to shell out for expensive manicures.

When
times were fat, my manicures were kind of a treat for myself. After a
long day in the financial trenches, I deserved to have my fingernails
buffed with Siberian tiger fur while three geishas massaged my cuticles
and sang selections from the Cole Porter songbook. That diamond-dust
varnish seemed a little extravagant, but you should’ve seen how they
made my nails sparkle. I wasn’t even deterred by the fact that I had to
fly to Buenos Aires for these manicures. I mean, it was only three
times a week.

Well, those days are over. Now my nails have the
creased, greyish look of a sliver of soap that’s been left on the rim
of the bathtub for years. If I’d only had the foresight to invest in
this Stainless Steel 7 Piece Manicure Set, I might still have somewhere
to live and a shred of human dignity. If I’d had these clippers,
cuticle scissors, tweezers, and whatnot, I might not have to climb down

You’re a smart, modest, no-frills GPS unit. You’ve got a big 7” TFT LCD screen that can also be used by portable DVD players and gaming devices on long car trips. So what business do you have trying to play MP3s? Why tart yourself up like that?

For
one thing, it’s not impressing anybody. Audio players with little-to-no
internal memory, dependent on SD cards for music storage, went out back
when Joe Lieberman was still considered a viable Democratic
presidential candidate. Oh, wait, that was never. But you get our point.

For another, it’s not necessary. By this time, the public has been deluged with so many cheapo MP3 players that anybody who doesn’t have one is either deaf, flat broke, or an AARP member. eCost has what is either a really nifty device or a complete piece of junk - the Homer Technology iViewer wireless tv viewer for $5 plus $10 ground shipping.

I couldn’t find any reviews for it, just this engadget article from when it first came out. It was $43 when it came out. I figure for $15 shipped it’s worth it to fool around with.

I was just a young boy. It was still a wild country then. Out on the
plains there was still a kind of magic. I used to ride my pony out of
the city and meet with her, the beautiful native girl with the name
