I noticed the Vado HD deal reactivated for the 3rd time, and thought this post might give those looking for a pocket video cam like me something to compare to. I searched the forums, and I didn’t see this posted.

JR has the RCA EZ209 pocket video cam on preorder for 99.99 + 6.95sh
Amazon has it on preorder for 119.99+fs.
They are set to release April 1, tomorrow.

Comparison notes:
I’ve been researching all the different pocket HD cams on the market for the past few days including the Kodak Zi6, Kodak ZX1 (releasing April or May), Flip MinoHD, VadoHD. They’re all going from $100-150. This camera from RCA seems at least a possible competitor for the bunch.

The sizes between this and the other 3 (excluding the zi6) do not differ too much. This does the 60fps and is expandable with microSD, which the Vado and Flip can’t. This has the wide angle landscape mode, the vado had, but the Zi6 didn’t have. The ZX1 does the 60fps (as does the Zi6), but the ZX1 only does 3MP stills. Unfortunately there are no video samples online for the RCA EZ209, so I don’t know what to expect beyond the posted specs. I have however seen video from RCA’s other 720p camera (the ez300) and did not see a major difference with the others.

But at 44 dollars cheaper than the ZX1, with the capacity for 8MP stills, thought someone might be wanting to check this out.
