I
have been trying to warn people about flesh-eating bacteria for years,
but no one listens. Flesh-eating bacteria are pretty much like other
bacteria, but with one crucial difference: They eat flesh. Usually they
get their start as just regular bacteria, but desperate circumstances
cause them to resort to flesh-eating as a way to survive. After
bacteria get a taste for flesh, they will stop at nothing to get more,
like microscopic Draculas.

There is sometimes an outbreak of
flesh-eating bacteria which you can see on the news, but just because
you don’t see it on the news doesn’t mean bacteria have stopped eating
flesh. You should always assume they are around, doing their gruesome
business. Even your coworkers could be carrying FEBs and you wouldn’t
necessarily know, if they were only eating parts that are under your
coworkers’ clothes. All-nude workplaces would help inspire employee
confidence in this matter, but America’s history of prudishness will
probably keep that from ever happening.

Some people like to
ask: Why should I be worried about flesh-eating bacteria? Not too many
people know this, but the human body is made up largely of flesh. So if
you have FEBs eating flesh in your home, the chances are pretty good
that that means they’re eating you, or at least someone you care about.
They are very small, so you can’t see them unless they are swarming
together to form one larger mass, like a rat king. Mostly they are too
smart to do this when people are around, but if you see a FEB
swarm, you can fight it more or less the way you would a human foe,
except that its “eyes” and “groin” are not going to be special pressure
points because they’re just FEBs like the whole rest of the body.

You
have three lines of defense against FEBs, and it is important to
maintain them all. The first one is your property. Keep all drafty
windows and doors sealed year-round, not just in the winter, so FEBs
can’t get in. Never accept packages of any kind. You can also sleep in
a different room each night to confuse FEB scouts when they come back with reinforcements.

The
second is the outside of your body (skin). Unfortunately, this is made
of flesh, which is exactly what FEBs like to eat. You can make yourself
less attractive to them by eating peppermints and red-hot candies and
other strongly-flavored sweets. You should also wash all over your body
at least twice every day with a harsh deodorant soap that dries out
your skin. Don’t use lotions or moisturizers because you are basically
just pampering your FEBs, which is the complete opposite of what you
want to do.

The final line of defense against FEBs is your
immune system. I don’t really know how this works, but almost everybody
has one. If you don’t, you may consider borrowing one from a friend who
lives in less of a FEB hotspot.

Flesh-eating
bacteria can drift on air currents (fly) and live underwater and on
land both. If you try to stomp on them, you will only split them into
more, angering them and worsening your odds of survival. Keep a clean
home and a vigilant watch, and maybe you will be OK, but maybe not,
it’s hard to say.
