I went with this drive because it was a good deal, described as a very quiet drive, and since it was for a notebook, the fact that it operated on the least amount of power in an online drive comparison meant that my battery would last longer with this one installed. I was able to sell my old 50 GB drive for $36, so in truth it only cost me about $30 to upgrade to a drive with 3X the capacity, and a 3 year warranty. Really seemed like a no brainer for me, especially since my drive was getting full.

Note that this is the ATA-6 variety, not the SATA version that most brand new laptops use. Our Dell laptop is about 20 months old, and used this ATA technology. If you’re in the same boat and have a laptop which uses the ATA-6 drives, this might be a great way to give yourself a new drive with a 3 year warranty.

I was not familiar with Egoodz, but it only took them 4 business days to get the drive to me, and they sent me a federal express tracking # in my email within 24 hours of placing my order. It was packaged very well in the box, with 3 layers of large bubble wrap surrounding it on all sides, allowing no movement. The drive was still inside the original manufacturer’s hermetically sealed shrinkwrap. The first thing I did was remove it and check the serial # online - it verified with 3 year warranty on the Hitachi website. The second thing I did was to install the drive, boot up using the Ultimate Boot CD, and run drive fitness tests. It passed with flying colors.

No complaints here, and I’m happy I gave Egoodz a shot at earning my customer loyalty.

PuritanSale.com has their house brand glycerine soap available for $2.07 per 4 pack of 3 ounce bars (17.25 cents per ounce). Shipping is free if you order 25 packs or more, although it’s still a pretty good deal even if you order a smaller bulk quantity. (It’s not like soap spoils very fast.) Product number is 001560.
