Dear Miss Twocents,

I’m writing you because I find myself in a sensitive situation that I’m not sure how to handle. I’ve been with my JBL Radial
High-Performance Loudspeaker Dock for iPod for about two years, and
things are going great. We get along really well. We’ve got a lot in
common. We’re even talking about marriage. My family really likes her,
and she does a good job of putting up with them. All’s well, it seems –
except for one thing.

Several times now, the JBL Radial
Loudspeaker has told me that my Dad is acting in ways that make her
uncomfortable. Long, lingering looks. Repeated remarks about her rich,

While
it may seem like your father is being deliberately inappropriate, your
significant other has to understand that some men of a certain age

saw it in San Jose Mercury news.

We met that glorious summer my family went to the beach. I was young

This is one of those deals where if it’s what you are looking for, it’s decent. Otherwise spend more and get a full mutli-function.

This inkjet based Sharp fax has been around for eons under different models as times goes by, and often at some dirt cheap deals as refurbs.

Pros - inkjet based and you can buy aftermarket ink (possibly have the cartridge refilled). It also has a telephone with answering system, which come people like when they are installing it in the place of a telephone.

Cons - complains of this drinking ink. Not a major issue if you send more than you receive. Note that this is not a printer, just a standalone unit.

One real pro…. if this machine is for you, it just dropped to $44.99 before the $30 rebate. Shipping for me comes up as $8. Sharp rebates are slow from experience - but they do come. Staplez occasionally has these as reburps for cheap OTD or with an SER. In my case, I’ve been looking for one of these for those occasional faxes I need to send, yet rarely receive one.

Let me make one thing clear to all you consumer drones and
brain-dead sheeple: I’m not going to upgrade my old analog television.
That’s right. Let the ATF and the FCC try to storm my compound and take away my soon-to-be obsolete boob tube! From my cold, dead hands, I’m telling you.

This is a Live-Free-Or-Die issue with me. The switchover is a blatant move by the GOVERNMENT
to try to force consumer spending to reanimate the bloodsucking monster
they call “the economy.” So actually, it’s like a Live-Free-Or-BUY
issue.

I just thought of that. That’s catchy. I’m totally going to print some t-shirts with that on them.

Anyway,
here’s my main problem. Well—besides the corporate police-nanny-state,
the flouridation plot, contrails and the drug war—here’s my main
problem. Come switchover time, I’m not going to be able to watch Carson
Daly anymore. I love that guy! So now I’m looking at a
Live-Free-Or-Die-Of-Boredom-On-Weeknights issue.

But my new DVD
player, in addition to its many other virtues (upconversion, multiple
recording-quality settings, time-shift recording and playback), is
equipped with an ATSC tuner to pull in digital over-the-air transmissions after analog signals get the Mr. Frump treatment next year. (Plug: pulled.)

It won’t display this signal in HD, mind you, but it will display it.

Now,
I wouldn’t have bought it just for that. I’m no polystyrene stag on the
target marketing target range. No, I require my video components to be
all-around performers. Utility players. So this DVD player here, it’s got a QAM Clear Tuner so I can pull in digital channels from my cable provider… without a cable box! Take that, the man!

It
can control multiple brands of digital cable boxes and digital
satellite set-top boxes. It comes with an IR blaster. And it upconverts
DVDs to 1080i resolution for better picture on an HDTV, in case I ever succumb to the covetous crapitalist mind-fever and buy one.
