Newb - read this forum for several months, but have not posted. I stumbled on something interesting when I went to return my HD-A2 purchased on BF. I lost my receipt and when I returned the unopened unit to WalMart w/o it, received $212 back on a gift card. Also, looked it up on their website and it is listed as $288, not to suggest that anyone should purposely return it and try to get that amount.

Decent entry level 42″ Samsung LCD. FRYS.com is free S&H and no tax for some. Came up at $899 today. Is it possible the $100 NFL.com rebate is also good on this tv if you purchase by tomorrow? I’ll probably hold out for the 5064 plasma, but if this is the price point you want, looks like a good deal.

Ok, Politics aside I was at the gun show in atlanta on saturday. The only thing that really leapt out at me was the Pelican 7060 Led Flashlight. If you have a bit of time to do a little research then do so…. but I gotta tell you, This thing is everything the Pelican website says and more. I have a MagLite, a Surefire, and several other quality lights. But this thing is as close to a light sabre as you can get this side of Tatooine. flashlightz.com is selling the light for 108.98 with free shipping till tomorrow. Gunshow price was 130 plus tax and we even offered to buy more than two with no budging on the price.

I know that a 100 dollar flashlight isnt really in the true spirit of fatwallet shopping… but this is an exceptional quality product at well researched price….

This is my first post; I hope this deal qualifies as “hot”. I searched to make sure this isn’t a repost. My main PC recently suffered a meltdown so I’ve been in the market for a new one. I stumbled upon this deal last night HP HP Pavilion M8100N Athlon 64 X2 5600+ 3GB DDR2 500GB NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE Windows Vista Home Premium. Tops Supermarket have MetRX bars on sale at 3 for $5, which is not a bad deal on its own. But, it gets better, If you have been saving MetRX coupons from Sunday paper, you should have 4 coupons that expire on 12/31/07 and 4 coupons that expire on 2/11/08. Also, the Tops circular has two $1 off “Make your own” coupons.

Here is the deal:

Buy a “box + 1″ = 13 bars. Since you are buying this many, you can use all 4 coupons, which will take the price of 2 bars. Depending how good the cashiers are they may take off the $2.58 non-sale price, or the sale price of $1.67, which is still a good deal. Then you use both “Make your own” $1 coupons.

$21.67 - 4($1.67)-2($1) = $ 13.03 (my one receipt actually shows $12.99, the math was rounded off in my favor) = $1.002 ($0.99/bar)

If the cashier gives you the original price discount, then: $21.67 - 4($2.58)= $11.35, got that from the easy checkout line (where you use the hand held scanner as you add items to your bags in the cart, not available at most stores) $0.87/bar.

If someone is aware of a better deal on MetRX bars, please post, I could not find it in the search. I am about to go back and get more.

If your main purpose to visit FW-HD is to find deals to clear out local stores only to re-sell on eBay, move on.

AFAIK, only the Tops on Maple in Amherst, NY has hand held scanners and lets you add items directly to your bags and just sync the scanner with the register at check out.

These are not the small “trial size” MetRX bars that you find at Walgreens and alike, but the normal sized bars that sell for $2.99 at GNC.

Bed Bath and Beyond has the Sunbeam Rocket Grill on sale as part of their Store Wide Clearance for $49.99. If you take one of the 20% off coupons, you get the grill for $40 plus tax. It’s also available online, but you’ll have to pay shipping.

I’ve had one of these for a year now and when I bought mine, I thought $100 was a good deal. I still use the grill weekly and it’s perfect for 1-2 people. Works similar to a George Foreman grill except it uses disposable pouches (a bit pricey, but worth it when compared to cleaning a George Foreman Grill) and it cooks vertically so that the fat drips off the meat completely. This results in a very nice sear on the outside. I’ve used it for salmon, chicken, burgers, steaks, asparagus and I’ve had perfect results almost every time. The exception has been occasionally overcooking something or having the grill on the frozen setting for a fresh food item.

Cooking time for a frozen boneless / skinless chicken breast is ~9.5 minutes from frozen to fully cooked. I love using the IQF chicken breasts from Costco, running some water over them and then sprinkling seasoning rubs on the outside. Drop it in a pouch and grill it for 9.5 minutes. Makes a great entree while I cook a steamed veggie in the microwave and make a salad. Complete dinner in 15 minutes.

I just happened to come across this while looking for a low-priced multimeter. I did some research between this and the WD 160GB. Both of these drives require a lot of USB power. The WD does not work on a lot of laptops unless you buy (for $20) a dual USB cable, to get two port power. The Maxtor comes with the cable and supposedly doesn’t require two ports nearly as much as the WD.

The WD scratches easily. The Maxtor is more rugged. Yet the Maxtor weighs 5.6 oz while the WD only weighs 3.7 oz.

All in all, even w/the 2 oz weight difference, the Maxtor seems like a better drive to me.
