Greetings, all.

I went to PepBoys.com and put in the ZIP for the local Pep Boys, 08360, just to see what they had that I might want. The Boys offered a Honeywell Model 2077D, Anti-Theft Safe w/minimal fire protection (let’s hope there’s no fire) for $99.99. The safe has a programmable, digital, electronic lock with key override. Bizrate shows prices from $169-$175 retail. The Boys also offered a $20 rebate until 10/06/2007, and I found a $10 off $50 coupon on their site free for the taking. On the bottom of the coupon, which expires 09/30/2007, it read that it couldn’t be combined with any rebate. Hmmm, I wonder….

I went to Pep Boys today w/the coupon in hand, and found three or four of the safes there, listed at $119.99 w/a reduced price of $99.99. I chose a safe in one of the boxes that hadn’t been opened yet. They took my coupon, no questions, then gave me a copy of their rebate form. They even checked off the box for the safe on the rebate form for me!!

The external dimensions of the safe are 17.38″ high X 13.22″ wide X 15.50″ deep, and its weight is 67 lbs.

No YMMV, since this is a local deal (unless other Pep Boys offer it similarly priced), and there were extras. The way I look at it, I saved about $100 on something that I actually wanted!!
