Buy.com has these 2 X 2GB SD cards for 17.99 AR, it drops to 7.99 if you have a new Google Checkout account.

Buy the SD card MP3 player from Deal Extreme for 8.40 with free shipping. They have another model which looks like a shuffle if you prefer that.

I did this and it works fine for me. My total cost per 2 GB MP3 player is $4 (SD Cards) + $8.40 (MP3 player) = $12.40

Pinnacle DVD Maker Deluxe - 29.9900

29 June, 2007 (01:00) | Deals, Woot | No comments

What’s that acrid odor in the air? Could it be the smell
of…excitement? Yes, it’s time again for another installment of “Ask an
Incontinent Viking,” the gadget column hosted by Fjafalgnjir the Vexed,
an 11th-century Danish warrior transported into a modern world he never
made. Fjafalgnjir certainly never expected to be vaulted hundreds of
years into the future, nor did he expect to lose control of his bowels
in the process. But like any good Viking, he’s soldiered onward, and
he’s ready to do battle with your electronics questions.

Q. I have hundreds of hours of home movies taken from the 1980’s through the later 1980’s, all on VHS
tape. I’m concerned that this historically important document –
including six minutes of the Statue of Liberty when it had all that
scaffolding around it, and some revelatory parachute-pants footage –
will be lost to history as the tapes decay. How can I preserve this
essential piece of our cultural patrimony?

A. The heavy tread of time stamps many a VHS
tape ‘neath its boot, leaving your home movies looking as though Gjálp
and Greip, twin giantess daughters of fearsome Geirröðr, had frolicked
‘pon them. No more, vow I! Pinnacle DVD Maker
Deluxe includes a plug-and-play video capture device, and by the chill
winds of Nifleheim, ye shall – oooh, ooh, wait, wait, be right back.

OK,
‘twas a fray raging inside my gut. But fear not, peace reigns again.
Like I was saying, the plug-and-play video capture device features both
USB 2.0 and FireWire/DV ports, so you just connect the capture device to your PC, hook up your VHS player to the capture device, and record the video directly to DVD, without saving it on your hard drive. Thus shall your home movies live as long as if they’d eaten the apples of Iðunn!

Q. I was excited to get a computer with a DVD
burner, but I’ve found the whole process horribly confusing, and I’m
afraid I might hurt myself. There’s got to be a better way! How can a
person of limited computer acumen like me create high-quality DVDs?
Give me hope, Incontinent Viking!

A. Hold the battle,
timorous one, for hope ye shall have! Neither the patricidal dwarf
Fáfnir nor all the armies of King Haki can stay the hand of the
Pinnacle DVD Maker Deluxe. Hailed for its user-friendly interface and robust functionality, the included software makes DVD creation as easy as, er, and, uh, wolves tear at my bowels! At such times I must needs flee, to seek relief!

Whew!
OK, I’m back. With this software, just a few mouse clicks will enable
you to create DVDs complete with menus and chapter marks, as swiftly as
Ratatöskr, impish squirrel of Yggdrasil, sows discord through his
deceits. ‘Tis a miracle indeed, a gift from Odin to all of Midgard! I
really should get going soon, but maybe I have time for one more
question…

Q. What’s the biggest difference between the 21st century and the 11th?

A.
By the hoary hosts of Hogarth, my profane affliction doth render me most appreciative of the wonders of
21st century toiletry! If you’d seen some of the holes I’ve had to
squat over…and I’m telling you, the subzero temperatures didn’t help.
Speaking of which – uh, help me, Odin – I really need to -

Contest 129: It’s The Refurbished Hit Of The Summer!

29 June, 2007 (01:00) | Deals, Woot | No comments

It just wouldn’t feel like summer without megaplexes full of vapid, glossy dumb-o-tainment. The studios are hooked on all that sweet, sweet summer blockbuster cash, so they tend to save the high-minded movies about AIDS and Rwanda for winter, when everybody’s already depressed anyway. Thing is, we find a lot of Hollywood’s steroidal explosion-fests, high-fructose rom-coms, and jiggly teen gross-out reels pretty depressing in their own right. The feel-good summer vibe is really all about packaging. So why can’t any movie be refurbished into a hot, wet popcorn-seller? Your assignment:

Create a movie poster that reconceives a movie as a summer blockbuster.

Ideally, you’d leave the title, the stars, the story, etc. alone, and change only the emphasis. Of course, a lot of people have been doing exactly that through humorously remixed trailers lately. It’s become Hollywood’s national pastime. But we’re not sure you’re up to that. (In fairness, neither are we.) If you want to make a video trailer for this contest, by all means, please do. But a poster would be fine, too.

Post your entry here by 11:59 PM CDT on Sunday, July 1, 2007.
Prizes are $20/$50/$100 for 3rd/2nd/1st. The rules and criteria for
winning: our panel of geniuses can and will make stuff up as it goes
along. Use Photoshop, pen and ink, collage, MSPaint, scrimshaw carving,
tattoos, ice sculpture, whatever, but it’ll only be judged if it’s
visible in our forums as a jpg, gif, or png. As we are fond of saying, try to keep your maximum
width to 450px. If you need a place to host your pictures, try www.imageshack.ws or www.photobucket.com.
We have no connection to either, but they seem free and easy to use.
And if you want us to be sure your entry was indeed your work, post
links to your source images. The more sure we are that you did your own
work, the more likely we are to consider it for a prize.

Past money winners:
If you’d like to nominate any entries from this week’s contest, email
your selections (with links to each individual post) to Jason Toon at jtoon@woot.com by noon CDT on Monday, July 2.

Man pays $4.88 for plasma TV at Wal-Mart
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

MONROE, La. — While Wal-Mart is known for dropping its prices, one West Monroe man took the ad campaign seriously when he dropped the price of a plasma television from $984 to $4.88. Police arrested Chandon L. Simms, 23, on Tuesday at the retail store on a charge of felony theft.

According to police reports, Simms carried a 42-inch Sanyo Plasma TV to a self-checkout aisle after switching the original price tag of $984 with one for only $4.88. Wal-Mart Loss Prevention officers witnessed the alleged transaction and called police.

When the store officers stopped Simms on his way out the door, he produced a receipt for a television purchased at the West Monroe Wal-Mart, authorities said.

Simms told officers that he purchased a TV from the West Monroe store and planned to returrn that one and keep the one he purchased for only $4.88 from the Monroe store. He was then arrested and booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center.

X1950PRO 512MB PCI-E $139 AR @NewEgg

Seems mildly hot to me. NewEgg has Sapphire X1950PRO 512MB PCI-E for $152.99 - $20 Rebate = 132.99. 3-Bus day S&H = $5.84.

Also, don’t forget 1% Fat cash and there is a $5 PriceGrabber rebate available at the moment. Admittedly, rebate is from Rebates411 and YMMV. But some have had success with previous Rebates411 promos (after jumping through numerous hoops and convoluted rebate process).

Unit price 152.99
S&H 5.84
subtotal 158.33

Rebate - 20.00
1% FC - 1.53
PriceGrabber - 5.00

total 132.30
tax ???

This is a pretty solid card (see NewEgg reviews) and may be a good opportunity for some to upgrade to CrossFire.

ilo 42″ LCD TV on clearance at Wal-Mart for $589

Rating: 1 Posted By: troublem8ker

This is my first time posting a hot deal, so I hope I don’t mess it up…here goes.

Wal-Mart has the 42″ ilo LCD TV previously discussed HERE on clearance for $589. I picked one up today at the Wal-Mart off Campbell Rd in Bowling Green, KY. They had 2 left after I purchased mine.

-I could not find any listing of this online, with at a FW/SD or on the Wal-Mart website.
-This may be this store only, but I figured some may want to check theirs if they knew that they had a handful in stock; they may be clearancing them now.
-There were no rebates on anything involved. Cash money-take the TV.

Thanks,

-Dave

P.S. This TV looks GREAT as a PC monitor.

JUST TO BE SAFE, I suggest people print out the $30 rebate form and take it into the store to make sure that the UPC bar code on the box matches those on the rebate form (0 12502 60735 9).
