[EDIT 4/19/07: after getting some input from other FW'ers with experience with this case and reading some more comments in the various A/V and HTPC websites, it appears this deal is cooler than I originally thought because of less-than-premium quality on some of Ahanix's products. That's the beauty of this website, though - you get to share and exchange useful and helpful information, both good and bad. So, this is still a heck of a lot cheaper than other cases with a 7" touchscreen display and still has a pretty high "neato" factor, but to some extent, you get what you pay for. However, if you're into HTPC stuff, it's still an interesting thread with all of the various comments people have made.]

Yes, $349 for a case without even a processor or hard drive in it is expensive, more than a lot of complete budget computers and any display on a computer case is arguably a bit of a gimmick. However, comparable cases with 7″ touchscreen displays from SilverStone, Zalman, OrigenAE and MonCaso run between $580 and $825, so this is a hot deal if you are looking to pick up something like this.

I’ve also read some very good things about PCAlchemy.com, too - when some other model Ahanix cases came out with misaligned expansion slot screw holes, they hired a metal fabricator to make brackets for their customers at no charge to cure the problem (I tend to doubt TigerDirect or eCost.com would do that). Their resellerratings.com rating is about as strong as you are ever likely to see, better even than Newegg.com’s rating:

9.91/10 lifetime rating for PCAlchemy.com at resellerratings.com

Three caveats: 1) I have neither purchased this case nor seen it in person ($349 is outside of my budget); 2) Ahanix may be getting out of the HTPC case making business, as some of their former retailers are either clearing out their inventory or no longer stock any Ahanix cases; and 3) the driver for the screen is supposed to be outdated - look for a link in the AVS Forum thread above for a current driver.

I live in a small town and have to drive nearly 50 miles to find the nearest Indian store…so lately I have been purchasing my groceries online. So I was excited to find out that Amazon is now carrying many Indian foods. Happened to find this:

I got this model yesterday and thought this deal may be of use to others. Its simple, it worked w/o hassle for me, but you do have to buy a 20% off coupon for home depot.

Search eBay for 20% off homedepot. You will find a ton of contractor coupons. Search for buy it now and you can get these usually around $10 shipped. Use at your local home depot on honda products. Honda’s are not excluded and the coupon that was sent to me didnt have an expiration date.

This may barely be warm for most due to requirement of coupon purchase, but for those who are looking to buy a Honda lawn mower, this was the best price I could find after wait and see for almost a year.

I saw the postings about the Aleve Liquid Gels FAR at Walgreens, but not this twist. There was an ad for Aleve Liquid Gels in my Sunday (April 15) newspaper coupon supplement. They had a $2 off coupon for the 20 capsule size PLUS a rebate of up to $3.99. Walgreens had these on sale for $3.99. I used the $2 coupon and sent in the rebate to make money on this deal. The rebate certificate said they would rebate the purchase price which, I’m hoping, is $3.99 (and not the $1.99 after using the coupon). Time will tell

The newspaper rebate coupon was not limited to Walgreens, so you can buy the Aleve anywhere you want. I bought the last box at my local Walgreens.

Hopefully the Aleve folks are good with rebates!

Another angle - from what I saw elsewhere, Walgreens may be offering a $3.99 rebate on this through their April EasySaver booklet. With Walgreen rebates, I’ve never had them adjust the rebate because I used a coupon on the item. You can also get a 10% bonus from Walgreens if you have your rebate applied to a Walgreens gift card. This 10% will cover your postage for the rebate.

That’s cheaper than the OEM version pricing (though you can’t get the LocalBuilder OEM FAR items for the retail MVUU.

UPDATE: CC claims their $50 makes their price less than the IM from CompUSA. Since it doesn’t seem to be a MS mfg rebate, there’s some legitimacy to that claim. I could always try an online adjustment or to use my AMEX buyer assurance, but it’s just $10, so I’ll leave that level of pursuit to others.
The $40 was accepted, though the register did something strange. Once a second item was added to the purchase, the rebate went from $50 to $25. So I made the purchase separate and then the rebate form would not print out. No problem, since it’s on-line (linked above).
So $259.99 - $40 - $50 = Microsoft Ultimate Upgrade $169.99 + tax.

I got an email from mypoints but the link is also available in my MyPoints account by going to the “Great Deals” tab and clicking on the “Subscriptions” subtab (almost directly under the “Great Deals” tab). Then click on the deal for MyPoints Newsstand. When you get to the page to pick out 4 magazines, there is a note on the left side that reads: “To earn points without selecting magazines please see Program and Delivery Details.” Then click the “Program and Delivery Details” on the bottom of the page. A pop up window comes up and under “Point Details” it says:
