Don't hesitate or panic if they go ahead and cancel you.
Just tell them since it will take about 2 weeks to get DSL set up,
ask them to set the cancellation date 2 weeks from now.
Then you can call back anytime during this two weeks and try your luck again with a diffe rep,
or withdraw the cancellation at any time
I have been bugging Comcast for a while now and threatened to cancel a few times, but until today could not get a lower rate. I was paying $48 a month ( I have their basic tv cable service for $15) for the past year.
Anyways, I just called in today, and told him Yahoo SBC is offering me $14.95 a month for 12 months. Right away, the representative offered me $29.99 for 12 months (with no contract, cancel anytime), and said that's the lowest rate he can give out.
Of course I took it. Let's face it, DSL will never be as good as cable. For somebody like me who downloads a lot of multimedia stuff, comcast is heaven. Faster, more stable, free repair and service (Everytime something goes wrong with DSL, you 'll have to pay about $50 to get it fixed, even if it's SBC's line issue)
Make a simple phone call and give me some green if it works out.

Also for those of you who don't know this, you can take you modem, walk in your local center, and ask for their latest cable modem, no appointment or anything needed. If you 've been with them for a year or more, your modem's most likely outdated.
